ESLSCA University recently held its first 5K Run organized by Sports Management students and held at the ZED Sports Club in Sheikh Zayed on Dec. 13, 2024. The race brought together students and faculty members in a celebration of community and fitness.

“The process of organizing the run was very enjoyable and went by smoothly thanks to the help and support of the community around us. We are very happy with the outcome,” said Amen Auf, an organizer and Sports Management student.

The event started with a guided warmup led by Athlete Performance Coach, Diana Karim. She also raced in the run and won 1st place in the female category. Her participation inspired many runners and added to the excitement of the day.

The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm and camaraderie as runners gathered to warm up together and start the run, surrounded by the support of fellow colleagues and faculty members.

“I enjoyed the race a lot. I used to love running so this event encouraged me to give it another chance,” said Joury Ashry, a participant in the run and Computer Science student at ESLSCA.

The run itself consisted of two laps around the Zed sports club facilities, with many water stations along the way to support runners. Once they finished the first lap they were met with encouragement by the organizers and the crowd, helping them make it to the finish line.

“I participated because I’m an athlete, a football player, and I love running. It’s a great feeling to have run this race today and I’m very glad to have won 1st place,” said Ezz Adel, first place winner overall and Business Administration student.

Many prizes awaited at the finish line including vouchers for the top three male and female runners. First place won EGP 5,000, second place won EGP 3,000 and third place won EGP 2,000. Additionally, all runners got a special race medal when crossing the finish line.

The ESLSCA 5K Run set a promising start to the journey of the first year Sports Management students. It successfully fostered a sense of community and encouraged ESLSCA students and faculty members to gather on their day off to participate in this positive event together.

“I love running so I said to myself why not participate. The course was really nice, I enjoyed it and I’m happy that I won second place,” said Malak Badawi, second place winner and Business Administration student.
